Why is the US backing Zelaya in the Honduran crisis?

It depends what type of game you are trying to play with this issue. Regardless there is not a good answer. On one hand, you can stand against Honduras and keep the support of the rest of the world. On the other, you can stand with the PEOPLE of Honduras and risk losing the support of the rest of the world. Regardless I think that once they have their elections in November and they pick a president, they will be ok with everyone. Also remember that there was one point where no one stood to the side of the US when they declared themselves independent. Sometimes the right answer may not be the cool one. Its just a matter of weather you want to risk not being cool and our government did not.
