Is this a good idea for a story?

It seems pretty good, but I think that you're drawing too much from Twilight. In order for a book to be really good, it has to have a lot of originality. I've had the same problem. Anytime I come up with an idea, I find that it is too reflected by Stephen King or Pauline Gedge. Good luck on it though!
