What is it some STRAIGHT people don’t understand?

I’m a heteroual 19 year old male and I can understand perfectly why a woman would love another woman and why a man would love another man. Men get along better with other men, women understand other women better. Some men/women like the bananas some like the pies. So what is so hard to understand, is it just bigotry or what?
