How would you handle this situation in a womens dorm?

The dorms at my university each had a common area for reading, watching TV, etc. About 8 girls were sitting on the couch in their dorm's common area watching their favorite soap opera. Three guys came in, changed the channel to football, and sat down to watch it. I was an observer in this case, as I was just ping through. But it seems to me that they were totally out of line to commandeer the TV in a womens dorm - why don't they watch football on the TV in their own dorm? As angry as the girls were, they of course didn't dare attack the guys who outweighed and outmuscled them. I didn't think you had to deal with rudeness and disrespect like that until you were married. Had it been me and my friends I think after we made our displeasure known quite firmly and loudly if they didn't leave we'd cut the cord on the TV. The cr nerve of some people is mindboggling.
