Does youtube censor comments?

I have commented a few times on a page. And twice my comments were mysteriously removed without any explanation. I suspect its because they didn't like what I had to say. One person replied to my comments and when I was looking for his comments I couldn't find them. Then the the message that said he replied disappeared all together. Is this a normal occurrence?
